There are 2 large development proposals for Hillside Ave. The properties for the Hillside Mikvah (77, 79 and 85 Hillside Ave) are in Ramapo, NY and Upper Saddle River, NJ. The properties for the basic needs school (98 & 100 Hillside Ave and 99 Oratam Rd) are all in Airmont, NY. CUPON opposes these projects for the following reasons:
There are no other commercial properties on this block. These projects would significantly change the look, traffic and character of this neighborhood.
There are several variances required for both projects.
There is no water line on Hillside Ave. At the Ramapo CDRC meeting on 9/5/19 the builder of the Mikvah said they intend to extend the water line if approved. If that happens that could open this area up to many other development projects.
There is a 1 car bridge with a 3 ton weight limit on Hillside Ave.
CUPON is fundraising to hire a team who will fight these projects but we need your help.
